Ashley Shapiro Lactation offers consultations for Prenatal, Postpartum, and Infancy and beyond. What makes me unique is that I have my Bachelors of Science in Nursing! I have experience working as a Postpartum RN (Registered Nurse) on the Mother Baby Unit and a Baby Nurse on Labor and Delivery. This is an added bonus because I can provide tips and tricks for the family unit and have experience with complex medical issues that can affect breastfeeding. This prenatal lactation session is ideal anytime at or after 37 weeks pregnant and is designed to give you a strong foundation for a smooth transition into feeding from day one. We’ll cover how to hand-express and collect colostrum, build a personalized breastfeeding plan, and help you understand what effective feeding looks like so you know your baby is getting enough.
You’ll also learn proper latch and positioning techniques, pump and supply guidance for those early days, and practical ways your partner or support team can help set you up for success from the very beginning.
During your early weeks at home, this private visit provides gentle, expert guidance to support both you and your baby as you transition into feeding. A weighted feed will help us understand how much milk your baby is taking in, while hands-on support ensures feeding feels comfortable and sustainable.
Together, we will refine latch and positioning, protect and build your milk supply, soothe sore nipples, breast discomfort, and relieve engorgement. We will closely observe your baby’s feeding patterns and weight gain to ensure they are getting exactly what they need to thrive; giving you clarity, confidence, and peace of mind.
As your baby grows, your feeding needs evolve and so does your support. This continued care is designed to guide your family beyond the newborn stage and throughout your entire feeding journey.
We’ll navigate pumping routines, bottle introduction, returning to work, and introducing solids at a pace that feels aligned with your family. You’ll receive support through milestones, including teething, illness, weaning, and maintaining healthy nutrition and growth. With dedicated guidance every step of the way, you’ll feel supported, empowered, and confident in each transition.

If your insurance plan is not contracted with us, don't worry! A detailed Superbill (an itemized receipt) will be provided at the end of your session for you to submit directly to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
The Lactation Network works directly with your insurance company and will take care of the billing and paperwork. TLN covers FREE visits for some PPO plans.
*Please note there is an out of pocket $150 travel fee with coverage through The Lactation Network for home visits.

There is a $75 cancellation fee for all appointments cancelled within 48 hours of appointment time.
