Ashley Shapiro Lactation offers consultations for Prenatal, Postpartum, and Infancy and beyond. What makes me unique is that I have my Bachelors of Science in Nursing! I have experience working as a Postpartum RN (Registered Nurse) on the Mother Baby Unit and a Baby Nurse on Labor and Delivery. This is an added bonus because I can provide tips and tricks for the family unit and have experience with complex medical issues that can affect breastfeeding. Whether you plan to breastfeed, combination feed, or formula feed I want to support you!

Postpartum Visit
Prepare and learn the basics before your baby arrives. We will identify what to expect, how to properly hand express, and how to know if your infant is getting enough. After your baby's birth the amount of information you receive can be overwhelming, build a solid foundation before the birth of your baby! 37 weeks pregnant is a great time for a prenatal and to master antenatal colostrum harvesting.

During this special time, after the birth of your baby; we will perfect position, latch, address if your baby is getting enough, painful breastfeeding, as well as other common breastfeeding concerns that may arise. During this visit, we will do a weighted feed to see how much breastmilk your baby has transferred.

These visits are focused on supporting the family beyond the newborn phase. We will discuss weaning, returning to work, how to use your breast pump, giving a bottle, introducing solids, and pumping to name a few.

Verify Eligibility for 100% Covered Lactation Services
The Lactation Network works directly with your insurance company and will take care of the billing and paperwork. TLN covers SIX FREE visits for MOST PPO plans through Anthem, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, and MultiPlan.
*Please note there is an out of pocket $175 travel fee with coverage through The Lactation Network for home visits.
Aetna Insurance Coverage
If you have insurance coverage through Aetna, please email hello@ashleyshapirolactation.com include your first and last name, address, date of birth, and pictures of the front and back of your insurance card.

Not covered by The Lactation Network?
If your insurance company does not work with the Lactation Network, a Superbill will be provided to you at the end of the session for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
There is a $75 cancellation fee for all appointments cancelled within 24 hours of appointment time.
